SGCH welcomes federal budget measures to deliver more social and affordable housing
The 2024 federal budget is pulling multiple levers to deliver more social and affordable housing and rental relief. It is also clear that the government recognises the importance of partnerships with community housing providers to bring capital and capability together to put more keys in doors, SGCH Group CEO Scott Langford said.
Mr Langford welcomed a Commonwealth Rent Assistance (CRA) increase of 10 per cent and an additional $1.9 billion in concessional loans under the Housing Australia Future Fund (HAFF).
‘This increase in CRA will assist renters across the housing system and the $1.9 billion continues to build on the government’s $10 billion HAFF Round 1 commitment ,’ Mr Langford said.
‘We called for a doubling of HAFF funding and an acceleration of that timeline. This budget has not committed that, but it is building on a package of housing policy and funding commitments so we look forward to the announcement of further measures that support social and affordable housing.’
