Catalyst Training & Employment Support

Catalyst is our supportive program designed to help SGCH tenants and their household members achieve their employment and training objectives.

There are three parts to Catalyst: Coaching, Training, and Financial Assistance. Participants have the flexibility to access all three services or select individual components that best suit their needs.

What is Catalyst coaching?

Catalyst Coaching gives you the opportunity to meet with a member of our Employment Opportunities Team to:

  • Discuss your interest in training or employment
  • Discuss your career aspirations and define your career goals
  • Get help with your resume or cover letter
  • Get help looking for training and employment opportunities
  • Get help preparing and practising for interviews
  • Continue receiving support once you are in training or employment

What is Catalyst training?

Catalyst Training provides you with the skills you need to enter the job market, through:

Job Skills Workshops

We run job application skills workshops, designed to improve the quality of your job applications, increase your confidence in securing employment and keep you motivated in the job search journey.

The workshop covers:

  • Resume writing: How to tailor your resume to specific roles.
  • Cover letters: Write a cover letter that will stand out from other applicants.
  • Interview preparation: Learn how to prepare for interviews.
  • Interview practice: Put your new skills into practice during mock interviews.

Third party training courses

The Employment Opportunities Team can help direct you to relevant third party training courses, eg TAFE, Registered Training organisations.

What is Catalyst financial assistance?

Catalyst Financial Assistance helps you overcome any financial barriers which might stop you from starting training or employment. Financial assistance may be available for things like:

  • Interview presentation
  • Employer-required training and pre-employment checks
  • Work-related licensing and more
