Brickmakers Precinct wins Development Excellence Award 2020

25 November 2020 – SGCH has won the Urban Taskforce Development Excellence Award for Affordable Housing for the second year running at the awards ceremony on Tuesday 24 November. The Brickmakers Precinct is an innovative social and affordable housing development portfolio delivered by SGCH in 2019/2020. The Brickmakers Precinct spans the south west Sydney suburbs of Miller, Cartwright, Liverpool and Moorebank. Together, these sites have delivered 194 new social and affordable homes in this high demand area.

Group CEO Scott Langford said, “With a range of partners, SGCH is delivering Australia’s largest non-government pipeline of new social and affordable housing.

“This award from Urban Taskforce recognises the quality and sustainability of our developments. It demonstrates that high quality affordable housing is an asset class that contributes to successful places alongside other developments across the country.”

Built to a minimum 7-star NatHERS, these homes provide secure and sustainable housing for people on the social and affordable housing waiting lists. This cohort are very susceptible to energy poverty and design across the Brickmakers Precinct makes sure the homes we deliver are comfortable and efficient – the savings estimate per household due to these features is approximately $500 per year.

With active construction sites operating in the City of Sydney and Liverpool City areas and more sites across Sydney in planning stages, SGCH continues to deliver on its development pipeline and vision to create great places for everyone.
