SGCH at the Community Housing Conference 2025

20 August 2025

The Community Housing Conference 2025 provided a fantastic forum for CHPs to come together to share their knowledge. SGCH was proud to participate as a silver sponsor and have two representatives appear as speakers.

Sarah Mulcahy, SGCH’s Connecting Communities Lead in South West Sydney (pictured above), joined Homes NSW’s Deborah Follers to reflect on the transformative journey of the Bonnyrigg Estate. Sarah’s presentation highlighted the power of putting community voices at the centre of housing development.

“The growth and connection I see at Bonnyrigg today didn’t happen by accident. It happened because we chose to listen, to collaborate and to put community needs at the heart of everything we do,” she told the conference.

SGCH Non-executive Director Alex O’Mara spoke about how the Boards of CHPs can lead environmental, social and governance initiatives. Her presentation illustrated how effective governance structures enable meaningful, measurable impact across the sector, positioning CHPs as leaders in sustainable housing solutions.

Some recurring themes arose from the conference: that collaboration among CHPs is essential for increasing scale and impact, and that long-term policy certainty is fundamental to meeting Australia’s growing housing demand.
