Changes to Centrepay Payments

Services Australia has changed the way Centrepay deductions are managed. If you use Centrepay to pay your rent to SGCH, you may need to take action when setting up or changing your payments.

This page explains what has changed, what you need to do and where to find the forms and information you need.

What is Centrepay?

Centrepay is a voluntary service which is free for Centrelink customers. You can use Centrepay to arrange regular deductions from your Centrelink payment. You can read more about it on the Centrepay – Services Australia website.

Does this change affect me?

These changes only affect customers who pay their rent through Centrepay. If you pay using another method, you do not need to take any action.

From 3 November 2025, Services Australia changed the process for Centrepay deductions. As a result, SGCH can no longer automatically update your Centrepay deductions, even if you have previously provided consent for us to do so.

What has changed?

If your payment amount changes, SGCH cannot update your Centrepay deduction on your behalf.

There are also changes to the forms used for Centrepay:

  • SGCH’s Centrepay form is no longer used.
  • The Services Australia SA501 Centrepay Deduction Authority form must now be used.
  • SGCH cannot complete any part of the form for you, but we can assist by guiding you to fill out the form yourself.
  • If you choose to submit a form, it must be fully completed and signed by you.

You may choose to complete a Centrepay Deduction Authority form and provide it to SGCH so your payments can be set up or updated.

What do I need to do?

You can update your Centrepay deductions by:

  • Signing in to your Centrelink account through myGov
  • Using the Express Plus Centrelink mobile app
  • Calling Centrelink using your usual payment line
  • Visiting a Services Australia service centre
  • Making an appointment with Services Australia at participating SGCH offices
  • Completing a Centrepay Deduction Authority form and bringing it to your local SGCH office

Other ways to pay

If you would prefer to use a different payment method, SGCH offers:

  • BPOINT – make a payment over the phone or in person at one of our offices.
  • Direct Deposit – arrange regular payments through your bank.
  • BPAY – make payments through your bank’s online, mobile, or telephone banking service.
