Meet our Team - Nathaniel

7 October 2022

When working on the Gibbons St development project as a partner, Nathaniel witnessed firsthand how SGCH works and the commitment the team had to purpose.

“I heard a tenant speaking at one of the opening events. He shared about how excited he was to be moving in and I could really see what a difference the project was making. I thought to myself, I’d like to work for an organisation like that. I want to build something that will have impact” explains Nathaniel.

A few months later, Nathaniel has joined the team as Assistant Development Manager and says it has been the easiest transition into a new job he has ever experienced.

“I joined the organisation because it has a good reputation and good people. Everyone has been welcoming and it just a good vibe” he shares.

Nathaniel is part of the New Homes team, and he brings his big picture thinking and artists heart into his work on the new development in Riverwood. A typical day includes working with Project Managers and builders or resolving design issues.

“It is a great time to get involved as construction is just beginning. This project will be 51 dwellings when it is completed which means a big impact. I need to make sure what we are building fits our design requirements and work with other teams to ensure what is being proposed aligns with a quality build and on our ongoing needs.”

Nathaniel started his career journey wanting to be an architect but soon discovered that the development side was a better fit.

“I am a visual artist and still create art outside of work. However, when I did work experience as an architect, I saw that I am also a big picture thinker and that I could have greater impact and role in the building in the development side” Nathaniel shares.

“I like the fast-paced nature of a new build. It is exciting to see something from a concept and an empty site and seeing it through to completion. It can be long days and hard work but at the end of the project when a tenant moves in, it is worth it.”
