Reflecting on Our Journey: Completing Our Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan and Looking Ahead

5 November 2026

As we complete our Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), we are proud of the foundations we have built and the valuable lessons we have gained along the way.

Our Reflect RAP provides an important opportunity to deepen our understanding of reconciliation and our role in creating positive outcomes for First Nations peoples and communities.

Through this, we have strengthened relationships, increased awareness across our organisation and taken important steps towards embedding reconciliation into the way we support our customers, communities and colleagues.

Along the way, we gained valuable insights that will shape the next chapter of our reconciliation journey.

We learned the importance of broadening participation across the organisation, strengthening communication and accountability and ensuring reconciliation is embedded in decision-making and everyday practice.

We also recognised the need for ongoing cultural learning, deeper partnerships with First Nations communities and a stronger focus on employment, career development and leadership pathways for First Nations peoples.

Most importantly, we discovered that listening to, learning from and being guided by First Nations voices is essential to meaningful and lasting impact. This, together with the insights gained throughout our Reflect RAP, has directly informed the development of our Innovate RAP.

Looking Ahead: Our Innovate RAP

As we move into the next phase of our reconciliation journey, we are committed to taking meaningful action that creates lasting impact for First Nations peoples, customers, communities and colleagues.

A key focus of our Innovate RAP will be strengthening and exploring opportunities for First Nations employment, career progression and professional development.

We recognise that creating genuine pathways for people to join, grow and thrive within our organisation is essential to building a more inclusive workplace.

We are also committed to increasing our engagement with First Nations businesses and supporting communities.

Our purpose of creating belonging will continue to guide this work and shape our engagement with First Nations communities. We are dedicated to creating culturally safe, welcoming and responsive services, programs and workplaces for customers and colleagues.

Building strong and genuine relationships will remain at the heart of our approach. We will continue to work alongside First Nations communities, Elders, organisations, businesses and allies. Their voices shape our priorities, inform our actions and hold us accountable to meaningful progress.

Importantly, reconciliation is not the responsibility of one team. Our Innovate RAP will focus on strengthening ownership and accountability across the organisation, so that leaders and colleagues at every level play an active role in advancing reconciliation and embedding it into the work we do every day.

Continuing the Journey Together

Completing our Reflect RAP is not the end of the journey. It marks an important milestone in our ongoing commitment to reconciliation and creating places where everyone belongs.

We have begun this next chapter by working closely with First Nations partners, customers and communities to help guide our approach. Most recently, we commissioned a bespoke artwork that reflects our reconciliation journey and aspirations for the future. The artist is a proud Wiradjuri woman who has been an SGCH customer for more than 12 years.

The artwork tells a story of connection, partnership, and empowerment. It represents the importance of building strong relationships with First Nations peoples through ongoing consultation, culturally appropriate events and programs, community groups, and employment opportunities.

It speaks to empowering future generations and creating pathways for growth, leadership, connection and belonging.

As we look ahead, we will further embed reconciliation across our organisation through the ongoing development and implementation of our Innovate RAP.

Building on the foundations established through our Reflect RAP, the Innovate RAP will provide a clear framework to deepen our impact, strengthen accountability, and support meaningful, long-term progress towards reconciliation.

We remain committed to listening, learning and walking alongside First Nations peoples and communities. Our purpose – To Create Belonging – will guide us in creating environments where all people feel respected and connected. Our values of We Care, We Create and We Connect, we guide how we strengthen relationships, create meaningful opportunities and work collaboratively with First Nations peoples to embed reconciliation in the work we do.
