St George Community Housing (SGCH) is proud to welcome Debi Marriott-Lavery, who officially begins today as the organisation’s new Chief Executive Officer.
Debi joins SGCH with a wealth of leadership experience in housing, health and community services and a career shaped by a lifelong passion for people.
A trained health professional, Debi progressed through the National Health Service in Britain and recognised that sustainable housing was the biggest challenge facing the vulnerable and disadvantaged people she encountered.
That inspired her move into community housing — a sector where she has since built a reputation as a change-making, collaborative, customer-focused leader.
Debi reflected on joining an organisation with a proud 40-year history of delivering for communities.
“It’s a real privilege to be joining an organisation with such a legacy. I can’t wait to start this next exciting chapter,” Debi said.
Debi, who joins SGCH from Magenta Living in the UK, also shared her excitement about making Sydney her new home, describing it as a city she has long admired for its diversity, sense of community and vibrancy.
Debi also extended her thanks to Acting CEO Joe Achmar and the Executive Leadership Team for their support during the transition.
“Together, we’ll build on the incredible work you do every day and shape a positive future for the communities we serve.”
